Inspiration Board #7 – part three

Images, make my story come to life!

They inspire me, they help me see my characters, where they go, what kind of trouble they get into, and sets the mood of the story. That’s why most of the images are dark and moody…with a little touch of color here and there. Just like my story!

Images are such a useful tool for me, especially since I’m an artist/designer/potter/photographer and writer. They help me design my story world. I can visualize my story in my mind, but seeing images related to my story takes it a step further.

That’s why I make these inspiration boards.

It’s something I can use for Pinterest and for my Blog…Story Mood Boards.

I make them with a Pinterest size graphic, so they’re Pinterest friendly.

Hopefully people will like them and pin them.

I Finally Found the Real Rusty Lawrence

Raven Hill Rusty Lawrence by Melinda Marie Alexander

I’ve been searching for an image of my character ~ Rusty Lawrence (AKA ~ Charles Oliver Wendell Lawrence III) for a very long time now. I actually gave up and just decided to use this image. It’s close, but not exactly like the image I have in my head.

Then last night, when I wasn’t looking for Rusty anymore, I found him.

This is the Rusty I’ve been visualizing for so long.

It’s so nice to finally have an image of him.

How I create Three-Dimensional Characters part 3

character profiles Gwen Harris

Last week, I posted about the new character profiles I make using Canva.com

https://melindamariealexander.com/2016/04/11/how-i-create-three-dimensional-characters-part-2/

Well, what a difference a week makes! After having problems with Canva all week, I’ve gone back to picmonkey.com…my favorite site for photo editing.

http://www.picmonkey.com/

I worked on a character profile on Canva and when I was done, I wasn’t able to download it or save it…at all! I wasn’t happy about doing all that work for nothing, that’s for sure! But, I thought it was just a one time thing and went back the next day, but the same thing happened. Are you kidding me!! All that work down the drain…again! I tried it a third time (I know, I’m stubborn) and it happened again!

Well, three strikes and your out!!!

This is the one I created on Canva.com

I wasn’t sure I could create a character profile with a photo on picmonkey, I’d never done it before and I really didn’t know how to. But, after thinking about how I was going to make it work (like I said, I’m stubborn) and playing on picmonkey for a few minutes…I figured it out. Yay!!!

http://www.picmonkey.com/

This is how I did it…

I clicked on Collage, picked a photo from my file, clicked on layouts, choose Zigsaw, and picked the first one. Then I clicked on the little x that says…remove cell and the line disappeared. Then I clicked on images, added my photo, clicked on Edit at the top and clicked on open editor. Then I could add what I wanted and had an image with the text. I’m so happy I figured it out! Not only did it work out great, it took me less time and I could save all of them…with no problem at all!
